S06E023, Go To The Source, Andy B 2 Minute Video
In this short video, Andy B shares the story of buying a small, basic laptop with a backlit keyboard that initially didn’t work. After multiple failed attempts to fix it through advice, software, and online searches, the issue was resolved only when the laptop's manufacturer was consulted. This experience led Andy to reflect on the importance of going directly to the source for answers.
Andy draws a parallel to spiritual life, emphasizing the value of seeking God’s guidance directly rather than always relying on others' advice. While seeking wisdom is valuable, sometimes the most effective solution is to turn to God and ask for clarity and direction.

So another Andy B two minute video. somebody blessed me with money in order that I could buy a laptop. I wanted a really basic laptop. I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to use it on trains and stuff. So therefore I wanted it fairly small. So I found a really good company in the UK, used them before, they come very highly recommended.
And in the end, what we actually did was bought a laptop from them. It arrived. It's perfect. It's small, it's basic, it's functional, everything I need. It's great. One of the features that's missing is the backlit screen. I wanted to have a backlit screen because sometimes I work in slightly darker environments and I wanted to be able to see the keys, which makes sense, right?
But the thing is, it wouldn't work. It wouldn't switch on. So I emailed the company and I said, I can't get the backlit keyboard to work. Paid for this. Be nice if it functioned. All right, they said. Okay, you need to install this software. Yeah, that, that didn't work. Okay, you need to install the software and reinstall it because it, it thinks it's there, but it isn't.
Yeah, it's not actually on the computer at all. what you need to do is this. What you need to do is that. And in the end, they had to go back to their manufacturer of the chassis. Didn't even know laptops had a chassis. I think it's all the metal bit before they stick all the hardware in for RAM and memories and hard drives.
That bit, we're going to ask them how to turn on your computer. Backlit screen. I went to the search engines, Google browsers, brave, all the rest of it. How do I turn it on? There's all these shortcuts. None of them worked. Press function and shift 10 function and F five, it'll be this on this keyboard.
Nothing worked. In the end, the people I bought the computer from went to the people that made the laptop. They then put all the software and bits on it and said, how do we turn it on? Actually, it's very simple. Now I know I can light the back lit keyboard up. In life, do you have this? You can search everywhere for the answer.
We look everywhere. I was on Google searching for an hour at one point. How do I get my backlit keyboard to light up? But nobody knew the answer. Why? Because I needed to go to the source. Can you see where we're going with this? Sometimes we need to stop asking everybody what we should do. Sometimes we just need to go to the source, to God.
Don't ask everybody around us. Sometimes it's good to get advice, absolutely. Seek wisdom. Sometimes, though, we just need to go to the source. We need to go to God and say, Okay, God, what is it that you want me to do? God backlit keyboard is now functioning at its fullest. God wants us to do the same. Be careful you don't ask other people when God is saying, Come and talk to me.
Just a thought.
