S05E055, GPS Gone Wrong , Andy B 2 Minute Video
I was out for a walk one day and tracking my exercise on a sports app - I like it because I can see how my heart rate is doing, what my average walking pace is etc. However, on one occasion, when I checked my app, the map was just a horrible mess: imagine a 3 year old with a crayon and lots of sugar, and you’d have what I had on the screen of my mobile phone.
For a really good fix on where you are at any point, you need more than one satellite to help locate you and your device. Three is a good starting point. And, not surprisingly, there is another ‘three’ that also helps us navigate through life, and that three is often referred to as the Trinity.
While it isn’t a biblical title, it does help understand the role that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit have together.
Deny God and you’ll get confused.
Deny Jesus and you’ll end up in hell (literally and figuratively).
Deny the Holy Spirit and you’ll get lost.
The Trinity is made up of 3 distinct parts; 3 separate people and we need all 3 of those people for a balanced faith - as Christians.
If you revere God and trust His words in the Holy Bible; if you believe that Jesus died and rose again for your sins; if you allow the Holy Spirit to guide your steps, you won’t have a massive, messy squiggle of mess like the map on my sports app - just check out the Israelites and their decades in the desert!!
Global Positioning Satellites are really amazing technology.
But the Moon is much bigger, and way better…and I know the hands that put that in its place!
Just a thought...

[00:00:00] Andy B: So another Andy B 2 Minute Video, and I've called this one GPS Gone Wrong. Now GPS, if you dunno what that is, that's Global Positioning Satellites. If you've got a Sat Nav, for example, in your car, then the GPS tells your little Sat Nav unit where it is, and then it can work out where you want to go. And it's all based upon GPS. Satellites in the sky. Three, even more, gets you more accurate fix.
[00:00:36] It's the same on your phone. If you want to go into the map function on your phone, you switch on your GPS, your location. Satellites, more than one, have to operate and then it can be work out where you are. It needs three satellites actually to really get a good fix.
[00:00:50] Three's an interesting number. Let's come back to that.
[00:00:53] So we went for a walk the other day. We were using a sports app and I frequently use this, and it tracks my app. And what's really good [00:01:00] because I'm doing the same route frequently, I can see how I'm doing, how's my heart rate doing, how's my average pace doing, how's my maximum speed of walking? And you can do this and it's brilliant.
[00:01:10] Well, the other day we went for a walk. We came back and it looked as though a spider had gone a bit loopy.
[00:01:16] Imagine if you will, a three-year-old who's had sugar for the last three hours. You give them a crayon, and you ask 'em to do a a squiggly drawing. What you're gonna get is this hyperactive mess of squiggles.
[00:01:29] That's what my map looked like, 'Cos it was a mess! I couldn't see where I'd been. I couldn't see where I was going. The Sat Nav was completely confused. My phone on this occasion by GPS. I don't know what had gone wrong. It got completely baffled! There was no nice rectangular route, which is what my usual route is. It was just this mess of crayon madness!
[00:01:51] In our lives, we need three things. We need God the Father, God the Son, God, the Holy Spirit. Those three things [00:02:00] effectively form a GPS network for us to help us moving in the right direction.
[00:02:05] If you think, well, I've got the God, the Bible, and I've got, I've got, I've got God, the Son and Jesus and the Bible, that's all I need you're not gonna steer a straight path, because you need the Holy Spirit who helps guide you. The Holy Spirit looks ahead and says, traffic ahead, make a detour. We need those three things, God, the Father, God the Son, God, the Holy Spirit. Because if we don't, we become that mess on the Sat Nav where it's just this mishmash of, of nonsense. You can't see anything!
[00:02:36] We need GPS. It's a good thing!
[00:02:38] But we need God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.
[00:02:40] Have those three things. That's all you ever gonna need. Everything else is gravy.
[00:02:50] Just a thought.
