Andy B was having a little quiet time with God, and was reading Isaiah 66.

In the second verse of this scripture, God tells us the sort of people He is looking to.

This comes just after we’re reminded of how God made the universe and everything in it, during the first 144 hours (6 days) of the universe.

But, as spectacular as all of that is, and all of creation - that is nothing, compared to how God will look to those who believe in Him, have a healthy respect and reverence of Him, and who takes God’s words, through scripture – treating them as they should be: the spoken words of God Himself!

Do we read scripture like that? As much as are God’s children, we still need to be reverent towards Him.

He is God and He loves us.

But He is still God and worthy of our love and respect!

So another Andy B 2 Minute Video.

Erm, over the weekend, erm, I was sitting, talking to God, and He led me to Isaiah 66 and I just wanted to read Verse 2 out.

"All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord. But this is the one to whom I will look - He who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word"

And that's me, erm, out of my ESV Bible.

Erm, the, the general context of this particular, erm, chapter of Isaiah is: God's talked about all the things that he's done - go and read Genesis 1 and 2, you'll see what the 1st verse of Isaiah 66 is talking about

So Isaiah 66, verse 1, is really just talking about Genesis chapter 1 and 2. It's just, almost, precursing - this is what God has done!

And in verse 2 He's saying, 'well look, all these things I've done', but it's almost as nothing because what God is looking for, is not a person, erm, it's not, not, not a beast of the field or a tree.

God is looking towards people, and of those people, who is it that God is looking towards?

And in verse 2 "This is the one to whom I will look. He who is humble and contrite in spirit."

I'll be honest, I had to look up the word contrite. What contrite means I now know. Er, my dictionary: if your heart is remorseful for who you are, and the things that perhaps you've been doing wrong in your life; when you have a contrite spirit, you come before God in a fully repentant way.

Trembling at my word; the Bible is an amazing, an AMAZING book. It's truly wondrous.

In the first two chapters of Genesis we've got the history of how God made everything that we know of the universe, to come in to be, in 6 x 24 hour days - right at the start of the Bible

And then all the way through scripture we've got so much else going on, even through the Song of Songs, which is, erm, love poetry for married couples, and those who are thinking about getting married; we've got the Psalms, we've got the New Testament, the life of Jesus - there's a lot in Scripture!

But if we actually take Scripture at its face value - I don't mean it in a, in a, daft way to be literalist - 'cos that isn't helpful. But if we take the truth of what scripture is, interpreted by the Holy Spirit; if we tremble at the word of God - those are the people that God is looking to.

Far more importantly than anything He's done, it's the people. And of the people - who are made in God's image, erm, God is looking for people who are trembling at His Word.

Not afraid of God; we shouldn't be overly familiar with God either - we should have a good, healthy reverence of God (go and look up the word reference - it's an amazing word).

But let's come before God as children of God, who love Him. And if we are, let's tremble at his word.

Let's let this be the plumb line and the guide to all the decisions we have to make.
