S05E010, Am I Imagining It? Andy B 2 Minute Video
Do you ever have feel that something has changed around you? But you can’t quite put your finger on what it is?
It’s a little like sitting in your car, when the car next to you starts pulling away – while you’re stationary. You suddenly feel as though you’re moving backwards…our perception can be so easily distorted!
I call this ‘creep’. It’s that movement, that is sufficiently slight or tiny, that confuses what we think is real. We accept things that aren’t, simply because we didn’t notice them changing -until we get a sudden jolt and realise everything is different.
In our relationships with God we have this same issue of ‘creep’.
We listen to some music we know wasn’t healthy or appropriate. We watch a film that had scenes we were uncomfortable with? But those things can also creep up on us so gradually we don’t realise how comfortable we have become with things that we are actually uncomfortable with!
How do we counter against this? Well, mercifully, that part is super simple.
We just need to spend some time in prayer. Or reading our bible. Or being with other Christians, worshipping God.
In a world that tells you to centre yourself by looking inwards to your own desires and needs, can I recommend some good introspection (the sort that involves somebody else looking at us across a table in a coffee shop) to check how we’re really doing.
Feelings lie. They are ever changing. What seemed bad, can slowly appear ok.
But truths don’t lie, or change. So get some truth in you to balance that slow creep of who we are and what we believe – and get some time with God.

So another Andy B 2 Minute Video, Am I Imagining It?

Have you ever had that feeling, that thought, where you, you're just, something's not quite right, something's changed, something's just not quite the same, but you can't quite see it. Perhaps the differences are just so minuscule we can't see it. Hence, am I imagining it?
0:25
Well, I had a trackball, mouse. I've had two or three now. I wear them out every so often because we use it quite heavily for editing graphics or videos. It's much more relaxed on the wrist, than a normal mouse. Nathan has actually now moved to a trackpad mouse, which is a bit like a pad and pen, but digital.

Anyway, so I'm using this trackball, mouse and I'm thinking, you know, my wrist is getting sore. And the whole point of this is it reduces strain on the wrist. So it makes it less tiring, more accurate as well. Anyway, I got to the point where I'm thinking, you know, there's a problem on this brand new computer, a brand new keyboard, something's not right, Googled it, this is going wrong. Okay, it sounds like it's the old mouse. It's just a common fault, apparently, that the wheel that you move, the little scrolly thing, that that can throw the volume out. And that's exactly what we're having. So I decided that we needed to look at a new mouse, and talked to Jo and i'ts like, okay, let's get a new mouse.

So it arrived, and we started using it. And two things happened. One, no problem with the volume having to move on its own. So that was great. We'd cured the problem. Two, well it looked a bit nicer, but, two, all of a sudden my wrist, my, my thumb joint, wasn't so tired.
1:34
Now, in principle, I didn't think there was anything wrong with the trackball mouse, but we've used this a lot. I think it's about five years old. Bearing in mind, it probably gets used for up to 10 hours a day, sometimes. So it's been hammered. But I hadn't noticed how much more difficult it was to use this little ball, this little mouse. Only when I got a new one did I realise, oh, this is so much easier. And everyone who has then sat at the computer said, oh, it's so much easier.
2:02
The big ball that you have to move with your thumb? There's three little, teeny, tiny, balls inside and it has to move them and they get warm, they get dirty, they get dusty and you can only help them so much.
2:11
In our life have you got creep going on? That thing where things are changing so slowly you just can't see them?
2:17
In our relationship with God we always need to come back to the Bible to root ourselves back in The Word and say, Lord, where are you? I need to get myself rooted back in you!
2:26
It's so easy to slip just a miniscule amount and we don't realise till we're further down the road and we've got a big problem.
2:33
Check in with God often. Check back with scripture. Root yourself in God and watch out for that little tiny miniscule creeping along that we don't notice.
